Synology DSM 2.2 Beta Reward Program and the Winners’ List
Synology DSM 2.2 beta reward program ended successfully. Launched in July 2009, the reward program encouraged Synology Disk Station beta users to submit ideas, suggest features, and report issues found in the testing of DSM 2.2 beta on their Disk Stations. The objective of this reward program is to tap into Disk Station users' ideas in order to enhance the DSM 2.2.
The DSM 2.2 beta has attracted over 10,000 enthusiastic users to participate in within one month and a half. In view of the tremendous number of participants and precious feedback, we decide to upgrade the rewards from three units of DS109 to five units of DS109+.
The five winners and their acceptance speeches are shared as follows:
Alan Percowitz from USA said: "It's not often that you come across a device that stands out. I purchased my first Synology product a few years ago and I've seen Synology transform it into something truly extraordinary. My compliments and gratitude to Synology developers and everyone that has come together to create this masterpiece. Thank you Synology!"
Jacky Huang from Hong Kong expressed: "Thank you Synology! Every firmware update turns my Disk Station into a brand new product with brand new features. Seeing my suggestions come true is exciting. It seems that I am one of the developers."
William Dorrepaal from the Netherlands commented: "The DSM 2.2 beta brought even more exciting new features which make my Disk Station an absolute all-rounder. It seamless adapts to my needs. Glad to have one!"
Jan Lira Duvier from Denmark said: "I would like to say thanks to Synology for rewarding me with a DS109+ for the testing of DSM 2.2 beta, and for acknowledging my suggestions to make the software even better. I'm looking forward to the final release and future releases with even more features."
Matthias Kessler from Switzerland commented: "I would like to thank Synology Inc. for chosing me being one of the winners of the beta reward program. Once again the company offered their users a chance to participe in the development of new firmware. Our suggestions and comments have always been highly appreciated and considered. "

Synology Disk Station DS109 Was Highly Appreciated by the Readers of the Hong Kong Magazine PC Market
Synology sponsored 10 units of Disk Station DS109 and held a joint promotion named “User Testing Program” with PC Market, one of the most popular HK magazines. Hundreds of interested readers wrote essays on “My ideal NAS” to participate in the program. PC Market then chose 10 participants based on the content of these essays after a period of 1.5 months. Selected participants received a DS109 with hard drive for testing and gaving feedback. In the end, all participants showed their appreciation for DS109. Below are some quotes and comments:
· Tiffany Ko described: “Probably because of the utilization of 2.5” hard disk, I can’t hear any operating noise from DS109.”
· Neo Wong said: “I want Windows GUI and Linux’s stability. Synology Disk Station DS109 can offer both of them.”
· Mr. Lee commented: “The user interface of Disk Station Manager 2.1 is pretty nice and the categorization is quite clear. The most important thing is that some applications are very pragmatic.”
· Mr. Lee added that using Disk Station DS109 to create and organize online albums is very convenient and stable. It would be even better if the Disk Station has label function, like Flickr.
· Chan Tsz Kin said: “I’ve got a powerful NAS now. Thanks to PC Market and Synology.”
· Sidney Wong wrote: “I thought Synology Disk Station has so many features and may be difficult to use. But then I found that the user interface is very friendly and easy to use…It took only 15 minutes to complete the setup and it’s very convenient.”
